Hermitage of Bienno
A journey through time
The Hermitage of Saints Peter and Paul in Bienno is a place steeped in history and spirituality, whose roots lie deep in the Franciscan tradition. After a long period of abandonment, the ancient convent complex was reborn in the 1960s as a modern and vibrant Centre of Spirituality dedicated to Saint Paul VI, the Pope from Brescia.
Today, the Hermitage welcomes visitors, pilgrims and conference guests into an atmosphere of complete peace, offering an oasis for reflection and formation. Its unique position, a magnificent panoramic terrace overlooking Val Camonica, makes it an ideal meeting point between faith, culture and the majestic beauty of nature.
The roots
The architecture of the Hermitage unfolds in harmony with its history, arranged around two atmospheric cloisters that invite visitors to slow down.
The spiritual heart of the complex is the ancient convent church, restored and brought back to its former splendour. Two smaller internal chapels are dedicated to more intimate celebrations and offer secluded spaces for prayer and personal reflection.
The walls also house a library with a heritage of around 30,000 volumes, a treasure continually being organised to support theological and biblical studies, as well as the educational programmes offered by the Centre.
A terrace over Val Camonica
The Hermitage boasts an exceptional location that enhances its spiritual and hospitality value. Perched on a natural terrace, it offers a breathtaking view over the entire Val Camonica. The landscape is framed by the imposing mountain ranges of the Adamello and the Concarena, creating panoramic scenes of great emotional impact.
The entire structure is immersed in a wide surrounding park, allowing guests to fully enjoy the tranquillity of nature, ideal for rest, meditation and outdoor walks.
Common hall
For moments of conviviality and sharing, the property provides a large and welcoming dining hall along with additional communal areas. These spaces were designed with simplicity and functionality in mind, reflecting the spirit of hospitality that characterises the Hermitage.
The common hall is the ideal meeting place where guests can share meals, foster dialogue and exchange, or simply enjoy peaceful moments of relaxation.
