Convent of the Friars Minor
Just a few steps from the Hermitage stands the Convent of the Friars Minor, formerly inhabited by a community of Poor Clares until 2021. Here you can take part in liturgical prayer and Eucharistic celebrations, sharing in the spirituality and tradition of the place.
Statue of Christ the King and Chapel of the Fallen
On the hill of Colle della Maddalena stands the imposing gold-leaf statue of Christ the King, eight metres high, created by sculptor Timo Bortolotti. The statue overlooks Val Camonica and was commissioned to celebrate the reconciliation between the Vatican State and the Kingdom of Italy after the Lateran Pacts.
At its base is the Chapel of the Fallen, dedicated to all those from the valley who died in war, featuring a large Crucifix and the figures of Mary Magdalene, Saint John the Apostle and the Virgin Mary, attributed to the Fantoni school.
Not to be missed are also the Church dedicated to Mary Magdalene and the Hall of Saint Martha, both enriched with frescoes attributed to Paolo da Caylina.
